Wait! what just happened? |
As you may have guessed from today's headline, I had a run in with a drunk driver. First, I want to say that everyone in my family, including the drunk/drugged up driver is safe! And second, the run in was not like the usual run in people have.
Around 1 in the morning last night me and my brothers were getting ready to to call it a night after messing around a little on a game. (it was the night before my littlest brother's birthday, which is now today.) I was going to bed and they were doing the same, when a loud Rumbling, almost like a thunderous explosion rocked our house!
I turn around and see that the walls are shaking and one of them is cracking and practically falling apart as it shifts ever so slightly to the right. Some asshole took a brand new car, got hopped on up booze and what I'm guessing was crack. (cops never said what the other substance was. ) and then drove through a telephone pole at a 120 miles an hour!
He was going so fast, that when he hit the sidewalk he flew into the air and then landed in our yard, (destroying the yard as well...) and then up our handicap accessible ramp and WHAM! right into our house! The ONLY reason it did not go through the front door was that he hit the wall that separates our living room to an adjacent room next to it. Anything more to the right and it would have gotten all of my brothers who were still sitting on the couch! My littlest brother even felt the wall behind him HIT him in the head!
So now it's a wait and see game with the insurance company's, but it looks like the houses foundation is just wrecked! With as hard as he hit our house and where he hit it, and not to mention the house is over a 100 year's old, it's not looking good. even our balcony is on it's last legs and we are praying it doesn't just fall through while it's missing two support columns.
Before any one can suggest we get out of the house, it's a little hard to move into a hotel with out the money upfront, and even harder when you have a few pets and a disabled person living with you.
Sorry about the scary/depressing post today I promise to get back to the erotica here in a bit. But I just needed to vent. I mean, who the fuck drives into a house!! ugh.. I've heard of it, I've even worried about it giving where we live. (seen a few wrecks just outside our door.) but actually having it happen is a completely different story!
Another reason for this post is to warn people that I might not be around as much int he future. this is only a possibility, but until we can get something fixed with the house, My time might be needed elsewhere. oh, and I stepped on a freaking nail and my foot is hurting like hell! ugh.. I have pics I can share of the wreck and everything, but I'm not going to be putting them up here on the blog.

Happened to my parents place. Not nearly as bad as yours sounds though. Luckily there was a huge tree that took the brunt of the impact. Not much damage to the house but the yard was a mess. Good luck with everything.
Oh my! I'm glad that you and your family are OK, but that's just horrible that your house was made the target for a hopped up idiot.
I'll be praying for a quick resolution for you.
My god, glad you're ok.
What the hell! Jeez! Shit ass luck for you there.
Hope they get all of that taken care of as soon as possible. If you have homeowners insurance, you might be able to get everything taken care of quickly and then they'll sue the driver, etc ..
We are holding up here ok. We are having roof problems on the apartment from the hurricane, but everything remains dry so far.
Hope to talk to you in a few days.
your insurance should cough up immediately and get you into some emergency accomodationa nd sort the pets.
but guessing from the way you write your in the states things might be a little bit different.
other guys insurance should cover everything for you.
Jennifer,
I know we talked a bit about this in person, but I just wanted to add to the list here as well. I am so happy that you and your family is o.k. and hope that your foot turns out o.k.
If you haven't done so already, make sure to not only talk to your insurance adjuster, but your agent as well. Explain that you don't have the money to move out, even if you do get paid in the end. Surprisingly most insurance companies will bend over backwards to help when they can (I know both an agent and several adjusters). If they can't, consider calling some local hotels that will be o.k. with your pets. Many hotels will work with you, if they can be assured that your insurance will be paying the bill. You would be their paying guests for some time, and they like filling up their rooms with long term guests!
My thoughts are with you, and I hope that everything works out o.k.
Just when I thought that could only happen in movies... jeez what sort of drunkin' basterd out there would make happening it to you? There should be a law preventing those booze's types from getting their... booze Duh! "giggle". Ok enough with the joke. I hope you get your things sorted out as soon as possible and best hopes to you and your family ^-^
Hugs and Kisses Alectra
Wow Jen! I'm sorry this happened to you. That is seriously freaky. I mean, who drives 120 mph!! Someone with a death wish, no doubt. I hope they throw the book at him!!
Caitlyn is totally right - you should not stay in that house. It's not safe and you don't know if it might come down on you! The insurance company (I pray to God you have insurance) will take care of the hotel and the house, even if they have to tear it down.. a real shame to happen to a 100+ year old house but at least you'll be safe!!
I hope everything will be okay with you and your family.
Yowza. Now that's quite rough. While getting so much damage in your home is not good at all, it's a blessing that no one was seriously hurt. The drunk driver will get his comeuppance after doing this much damage.
